“Due to a strike called by a trade union organisation, suppression of trains at the national level in all services is expected on 24 July,” warned CP, in a statement.

The railway carrier also predicts that there will be disruptions in the movement of trains on 23 July and 25 July.

For customers who already have tickets to travel on trains that are suppressed, CP will allow reimbursement of the total value of the purchased ticket, or its revalidation, free of charge.

On 10 July, SFRCI announced that CP's ticket office workers and reviewers are on 24 July to carry out a 24-hour national strike demanding the withdrawal of the company's career regulation proposal, which they consider "humiliating".

“The career regulation proposal that the company presented on 2 July is humiliating for commercial workers. In this sense, the workers want the company to remove this proposal”, said the president of the Railway Trade Union of the Travelling Commercial Review (SFRCI) in statements to the Lusa agency.

According to union leader Luís Bravo, workers “do not accept” the intended “extinction, by merger, of the categories of proof-readers and operators of ticket sales and control”, considering that “the functional content of categories is mixed when a worker itinerant has nothing to do with a fixed ticket office worker or vice versa”.

"What we are presented with is a total versatility that is not understood and that workers completely reject", he maintained.

Also "unacceptable" for the union is "the extinction of careers where workers could progress, such as commercial technicians 1 and 2".

"These and other issues make CP's proposal unacceptable and workers were very surprised by what the company is proposing," said the union leader.
