The new direct flight will operate between June 2 and September 11, on Monday and Thursday, and will be operated with Embraer 190 aircraft with capacity for 106 passengers, TAP said in a statement.
According to the company, a total of 30 flights are planned, corresponding to an offer of 3,180 seats in each direction of travel.
On Mondays, the flight leaves Funchal at 20:50 to Faro, with the flight between Faro and Funchal at 23:15. On Thursdays, the flight leaves Funchal at 06:10 and Faro at 08:35.
“With this new connection, TAP unites two of the most important tourist regions in Portugal, facilitating not only the mobility of the Portuguese, but also the combined tourist demand”, concludes TAP.
The new air connection reinforces the offer of direct flights for the summer, departing and arriving at Gago Coutinho airport, in Faro, which now has 86 routes to 75 destinations.
In addition to Funchal, there will be routes between Faro and three new markets: the United States, more specifically New York, by United Airlines, from May, Finland, with flights to Helsinki operated by Finnair and Iceland, with connections to Reykjavík with Play.
According to ANA, the company that manages national airports, with this addition, the Algarve's connectivity will now be available to 22 international markets.
In the summer of 2025, an average of 821 weekly frequencies are expected, an average increase of 8% in the average number of weekly frequencies compared to the same summer.
