The protest, organised by the local Pakistani community members, was called due to immigrants resident in Portugal having to wait years to have their residency permits issued despite having all their paperwork in order.
Following the protest, SEF officials reportedly told the group that there is a shortage of manpower which has been further complicated by the extended illness of the national director, who is responsible for signing off documentation.

I don't really understand SEF and how they works. I have waiting to hear or to be call upon for my residence. If l called they will says that l should wait.......until when one will continue waiting.
If they short of administrative staffs, they should employ staff, many professional people are in this blessed country Portugal looking for serious and sincerely want to work but due to language barrier, they can't. I call on SEF authority to look on this issues quickly and let change occur. Time waiting is so frustrating. This is developing country why l think things need to be done decently and without delay but not without SEF Portugal.
