In a statement, the PSP said that the weapons destroyed were seized in operations across the country as part of criminal or administrative cases.
According to the PSP, the lot of destroyed weapons also included weapons voluntarily handed over to the State by their owners.
This was the second time the PSP destroyed weapons in the Lisbon area, and the total so far is 6,252 firearms and knives.
On 12 April the PSP is scheduled to destroy another lot of weapons in Porto.
