According to the European Centre of Disease Control, only Ireland, Italy, Spain and Poland impose more severe restrictions on their citizens due to the pandemic.
The list, which contains 31 countries, said Iceland, Sweden, Germany, Norway and Denmark were the most relaxed when it came to measures imposed to contain the spread of the virus.
Why then can't we travel to Portugal from Ireland without quarantine if our measures are similar, maybe Portugal,Ireland,Italy,Spain and Poland should form a safe airbridge to allow tourist travel without having to quarantine on return home.

Because those measures look good on paper, but on the ground, they aren't applied consistently; in fact, in some places, like the parishes that are still under calamity (I happen to live in one of them), they cannot be applied, because there are no means if doing so.

This just shows what a ridiculous ruling it is by Johnson's UK government to insist on visitors to Portugal having to go into quarantine when returning to the UK. It is a much worse situation in the UK, so where is the logic?
Personally I do not want loads of drunken Brits here, but the Algarve tourist industry is in a desperate state without the visitors from the UK.
Perhaps we should insist on a drunkenness test before passengers board planes to the Algarve.
