The European statistics office said the 1.3% seen in Portugal was greater than the other countries such as Greece (1.2%), Ireland and Spain (with 0.9% each) and Estonia (0.7%).


The biggest falls in employment were in Finland (-0.3%), the UK (-0.2%), Bulgaria and Lithuania (-0.1% each).


In Portugal, the number of people in work in the second quarter was 1.9% higher than in the same period in 2014.
