According to a measure included in the 2017 state budget, an additional tax on soft drinks is expected to result in a cash injection for the state amounting to around 80 million euros each year.

As a quick rule, fizzy drinks with a sugar content of up to 80 grams per litre will become 15 cents more expensive, while the tax will be doubled for drinks with a sugar content in excess of 80 grams per litre.
