According to a report by ECO, the shortage of semiconductors
has delayed the project by more than a year and a half.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has generated a huge shortage of
semiconductors on the market, essential components for any electronic device,
including the chargers themselves, which has led to very significant delays in
the supply of charging stations. We expect to complete the network this
summer”, a Brisa official source told ECO.
Of the 82 charging stations planned, 20 are yet to come into
operation, in two service areas on the A1 – Pombal and Aveiras – and two
others, Palmela and Alcácer do Sal, on the A2. The stations that have not yet
been connected will be operated by Galp, one of the project's partners.
The expected date for the completion of the project was the
end of 2021, said the executive president of Brisa, António Pires de Lima, in
the presentation of the project.
The 62 charging stations already connected have a total of
147 outlets and “correspond to 76% of the network”. Usually, stations are
available in both directions of service areas:
18 points on the A1 in the Gaia, Antuã, Mealhada, Leiria and
Santarém Service Areas;
14 points on the A2 in the Seixal, Grândola, Aljustrel and
Almodôvar Service Areas;
2 points on the A3, in the Barcelos Service Areas;
4 points on the A4, in Penafiel Service Areas;
12 points on the A6, in the Vendas Novas, Montemor and
Estremoz Service Areas;
4 points on the A9/CREL in the North CREL Service Area;
8 points on the A13 in the Salvaterra and Montijo Service
Areas.
