Almost 30 percent of couples expect to spend more than €30,000 on the ceremony, according to a study carried out by the Instituto Superior de Administração e Gestão (ISAG) and the Research Center for Business and Tourism Sciences of the Consuelo Vieira da Costa Foundation (CICET-FCVC).
Only 18.5 percent of couples intend to spend up to €10,000 on their wedding. Almost 30 percent expect to spend between €10,000 and €20,000 and the same percentage between €20,000 and €40,000. With a higher budget comes a smaller percentage (11.1 percent) who have a budget between €40,000 and €50,000. On the other hand, 11.1 percent of couples expect to spend more than €50,000 on their wedding.
These results were presented during the Porto Wedding Summit, at Fundação Dr. Antonio Cupertino de Miranda, and reported by ECO. More than half of respondents (51.8 percent) want to invite between 101 and 150 guests. One in four parties have more than 150 people, while only 7.4 percent expect to have less than 60 attendees. Among those involved in this survey, 85.1 percent want to get married in the next three years and have an average age of 30.5 years.
Regarding the type of ceremony, 44.4 percent prefer civil marriage, while religious marriage accounts for 55.56 percent of preferences.
I am an international Celebrant based here in the Algarve for the past 18 years.
I have conducted many ceremonies and mostly Irish congregations are over 70 guests and all say it is cheaper to come to the Algarve than stay at home.
On average I would say my congregations are between 30 and 40 guests which all seem to say it is a holiday as well as a wedding so is very affordable.
So I feel some of the statement is not totally realistic.
Kindest Regards
Leonard
