I received my card in October 2021 after a loooong wait due to a major backlog.
Is it compliant with the stringent EC format and regulations?! I have no way of knowing. SEF and I may dance again .....

What card??? We got only yellow paper from the city hall and been told that we will get a card after 5 years. We are EU passport holders who moved to Portugal

As far as I am aware, only Portuguese (and Brazilian) citizens are entitled to identity cards in Portugal. Other residents have a Residents' permit (now a card).

EU nationals don't need a residence permit, so the term must be wrong. We just get a piece of paper from the town hall when we register our presence. After 5 years, they are entitled to permanent residence and a card that confirms it. Citizen cards are reserved for PT and BR nationals, so which ID cards are we talking about? It seems all we can get to authenticate us online is a digital key. How about some more concrete information?
