The deal involves the Canopy by Hilton Lisbon Praça São Paulo units; the Duo Hotel Lisbon, Curio Collection by Hilton and the Hampton by Hilton Lisbon Baixa, according to a report by Publituris.
Canopy by Hilton Lisbon Praça São Paulo will have an address “within walking distance of Time Out Market”, as indicated in a statement. The property will have 84 rooms and a space with a bar for guests to work, relax and socialize. 120 square meters of meeting space, a fitness center and parking are also planned.
The hotel is scheduled to open in 2026 and will be the first Canopy by Hilton brand hotel in Portugal, which includes a series of amenities such as rooms equipped with Canopy by Hilton's exclusive four-poster bed frame, Canopy socks and Nespresso machines. Recent Canopy by Hilton openings include Canopy by Hilton Cannes, Canopy by Hilton Madrid Castellana and Canopy by Hilton London City.
The Duo Hotel Lisbon, Curio Collection by Hilton is scheduled to open in spring 2024, in a property that will combine a traditional 19th-century building with a new secondary development, interconnected by an interior courtyard. It will have 75 rooms, an all-day restaurant, bar, meeting space and a pastry shop dedicated to Portuguese sweets. Although the exact address of this new hotel will not be announced, Mercan indicates in a statement that it will be located “in the busy western area of downtown, close to many of the main tourist attractions, restaurants and shopping areas”.
Finally, the opening of Hampton by Hilton Lisbon Baixa, scheduled for 2025, marks the brand's debut in the Portuguese capital. Characterized by Hampton by Hilton's sleek, modern design, the 157-room property will feature a rooftop terrace with an outdoor pool, a fully equipped fitness center, parking and 250 square meters of common areas for guests.
Regarding these openings, Carlos Miró, general director of development in Spain and Portugal at Hilton, says that “Lisbon is an incredible destination, with several development opportunities, and increasing our presence in the capital is fundamental for broader growth in Portugal".
He further indicates that “in recent years we have made great progress in diversifying our portfolio by introducing new brands, including Hilton Garden Inn, Tapestry Collection by Hilton and Curio Collection by Hilton in the Portuguese market. Now, as we plan to continue developing the Curio Collection by Hilton in the Iberian Peninsula and introduce the first Hampton by Hilton and Canopy by Hilton hotels in Portugal, we are confident that we can respond to a wider range of traveller needs.”
Currently, Hilton has nine hotels in operation and 11 hotels under design in Portugal. Of these properties, two are located in Lisbon. Hilton has opened around 20 hotels in Europe this year, with around 200 new hotels planned over the next three to five years.
Introduce the More Housing plan, making changes to AL that hinder mainly Portugues families, then allow big corporations like Hilton from Spain and Germany to open hotels in the very areas where you need social housing. Brilliant!!
Make Hilton build social housing as part of the planning agreement to build their tourist hotels.
