The Azores Retail Park, which will reinforce the commercial offer in Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel (Azores), has begun construction, and the laying of the first stone has already taken place. The project is managed by Sapore, a company owned by the Vigent Group, and will be developed in an area of ​​44,000 square meters (m2), with a gross construction area of ​​18,000 m2. It will have 11 commercial units and 800 parking spaces, totaling 15 thousand m2 of gross leasable area (GLA), and “promises to position itself as an engine of economic dynamism for the region”.

According to Sapore, which has a portfolio of properties for rent and projects for development that includes services, hotels, industry and commerce, the Azores Retail Park is already 100% commercialised, with brands such as Continente, Worten, Sport Zone and Espaço Casa, in addition to others that will be represented for the first time in the Autonomous Region, such as FNAC, Fábrica dos Óculos and JYSK.

“By starting this project, we are taking an important step in the development of Ponta Delgada. The Azores Retail Park will not only be a modern retail space, but a new economic driver for the island, which will generate jobs (around 200 jobs on site and 550 direct and indirect jobs in the operating phase) and promote the sustainable growth of the sector commercial”, said Sérgio Silva, CEO of Vigent Group.

José Manuel Bolieiro, president of the Government of the Azores, considered the Azores as a “region of opportunities” and highlighted that the project “represents an important contribution to the creation of wealth, generating jobs and opportunities, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable economic development of the Region”.
