The food collected will be distributed, starting next week, to 2,400 Social Solidarity Institutions and, through these, to around 380,000 people with proven economic difficulties.
“It is impressive to see the wave of solidarity generated by the Food Bank Campaigns that impact so many people, companies, public and private entities, in a common cause”, said the president of the Portuguese Federation of Food Banks Against Hunger (FPBACF), Isabel Jonet.
In addition to this in-person campaign, which saw the participation of around 40 thousand volunteers, it is possible to contribute, until the 8th, through vouchers available in supermarkets or on the electronic platform.
Last year, the 21 national food banks against hunger distributed 25.75 thousand tons of food, with an estimated global value of more than 39.4 million euros.
