In the case of Chega, the initiative was made unfeasible by the opposing votes of the PSD, CDS-PP and IL, the abstention of the PS, Livre, and BE, and the favourable vote of the proponent and PAN.
The resolution projects of the three left-wing parties had a slightly different voting geometry than Chega's project, but the result was the same and they were rejected with the vote against by the PSD, CDS-PP and IL, the abstention of the PS and the Chega and the favourable vote of the other parties.
Specifically, the Chega project advocates increasing the minimum monthly wage to 950 euros in 2025, accompanied by a support program for companies that demonstrate operating costs exceeding 30%, so that they could keep up with the proposed increase in the minimum wage.
In turn, the draft resolutions of the three left-wing parties point to orders of magnitude and different rates of rise for the SMN, with the PCP insisting on 1,000 euros in January 2025, while the Left Bloc defends an update to 950 euros in January and a new increase to 1,000 euro from July 2025. Livre recommends that the government increase the SMN to 950 euro in January, aiming to reach 1,150 euro in 2028.
