The event, scheduled for 6pm, has as guest speaker Manuel Tão, a transport and mobility specialist and professor at the University of Algarve, the municipality said in a statement.
The initiative will be recorded and will later be broadcast on the Sobre Carris programme and on the multimedia channels of the Público newspaper, says the note from the Lagos City Council.
Railway lines are hard to see from a distance unless there is a train running. It is a different story with electric trains. They have to build high metal hoops every few metres to carry the wires. They are an eyesore and ruin the view. The cost of adding this infrastructure will take a very long time to repay if ever. In the UK they started running on diesel again as electric was too expensive.

I agree that this railway should be secured. Not by overhead cables as better options are possible and will become more viable.
It is important to advance but to embrace the future we must also learn lessons from the past.
