Thomas Ahlers, General Director of Sales for the Lufthansa Group in Portugal, told Publituris: “We will start our sixth destination in Portugal. From June 25th, Edelweiss will connect Terceira, in the Azores, to Zurich with a weekly flight”.
According to the person responsible for the Lufthansa Group in Portugal, “Terceira marks the sixth destination for the Lufthansa Group in Portugal and the second in the Azores islands, in addition to Ponta Delgada”.
The new route between Terceira and Zurich is not, however, the only new feature from Lufthansa Group airlines for next summer in Portugal, as Discover Airlines, Eurowings and Brussels Airlines also have new features planned for Portugal.
“The Lufthansa Group is planning to launch several new routes in 2025,” adds Thomas Ahlers, highlighting that the German aviation group has “very good news for Portugal” in this high aviation season.
Thus, in addition to Edelweiss, Discover Airlines, another carrier of the German aviation group, will also open a new route between Funchal and Munich, with two flights per week and starting in the summer timetable.
Eurowings, the group's low-cost carrier, will also start connecting Faro to Berlin, up to three times a week, and will also return to operating in Ponta Delgada, with a route from Dusseldorf.
Eurowings will also launch non-stop flights between Lisbon and Hanover, as well as between Porto and Cologne, with Thomas Ahlers also highlighting the route that Brussels Airlines will also open to Funchal from Brussels, with one frequency per week, in what will be the first time that the Belgian airline flies to Madeira in the summer.
