In a statement, the institute extended the yellow warning for the two districts, which, according to the previous report, would be in effect until 12 pm.

The districts of Setúbal and Lisbon were placed under an orange warning on Thursday (the second most serious on a scale of three), also due to the forecast of heavy showers.

Still on the mainland, the districts of Faro, Santarém and Beja were subject to a yellow warning due to precipitation.

In addition, IPMA issued a yellow warning due to the forecast of snow for the districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco.

Civil Protection recorded 296 incidents up until 10pm on Thursday, with the highest incidence in the areas of Greater Lisbon and the Setúbal Peninsula.

A Civil Protection source informed Lusa that 190 floods, 212 road cleanings and seven structure collapses were recorded, with 1178 operators and 351 vehicles being called into action.

The same source also said that 248 of the incidents occurred in Greater Lisbon and 40 in the Setúbal Peninsula.

Due to flooding, National Road 249-4, in Trajouce, São Domingos de Rana, in the municipality of Cascais, was cut off.

Traffic was also closed on Estrada das Fontainhas, in Tercena, in the Municipality of Oeiras, due to the collapse of the road.
