Surrounded by nature, Verdelago Resort has brought an offer that until now did not exist in the Eastern Algarve region. With exclusive access to the beach from the suspended walkways, the 5-star resort has in its genesis a tourist village that results from a tourist real estate project focused on sustainable and informal luxury, reads a press release sent to the newsroom.

Paulo Monteiro, General Director of Development at Verdelago Resort says that "it is with great satisfaction and pride that we receive the Green Globe Certification, which reinforces the implementation of our sustainability strategy and materialises a long process already started in 2020".

With an area of more than 80 hectares, Verdelago Resort is a low-density construction project, with only 9% of the property dedicated to accommodation and recreational infrastructure. All this in full proximity to nature – guests can stroll along the previously existing trails, walk to the coast and enjoy the beaches of the region or even have a massage or a yoga session in the middle of the pine forest.

"This commitment to sustainability is present from the concession of the project, through all stages, construction, marketing and tourist operation, basing the high level of quality of the development on the concept of simple, uncompromised luxury, which values the senses, experiences and most authentic values of the human being and the place", reinforces Paulo Monteiro.

The materials used, the colors of the apartments, the construction of a photovoltaic plant, the preservation of the surrounding nature and the hundreds of trees planted, as well as the state-of-the-art irrigation system or the Centralized Technical Management (GTC) system, are some examples of how environmental concern was taken into account from the beginning.

In line with these examples of sustainability, Verdelago places great importance on the local community and its involvement in the business. About 50% of its suppliers are regional companies and there are local and artisanal products for sale in the small market available at the resort. In addition, guests receive information about various local experiences they can try, such as visiting the traditional cork factory or the salt pans, doing a wine tasting in a winery or even a solar boat trip through the incredible Ria Formosa.

"We will thus continue our effort and strategy to be increasingly "green", as our name implies, valuing our positioning, as a development with high levels of quality, luxury and sustainability, which reinforces the positive impact on the entire community in which it is inserted", underlines the Development Director of Verdelago Resort.
