Lisboan International School, which is due to open in September 2025, will be located in the centre of Alcântara, according to a report by ECO.
Located in the old A Napolitana pasta factory, built in 1908 and which is undergoing complete renovation, the school aims to combine historical heritage with architectural innovation through the work of architect Frederico Valsassina.
The education project has been known since 2021, but more details have now been shared, including an increase of €25 million in relation to the initially planned investment, the contract with the construction company San Jose Construction and the consultancy provided by Engexpor.
With a total area of 11,500 m², the campus was designed to accommodate up to 1,200 students, but starts with a planned capacity for 150 to 300 students with classrooms, science and technology laboratories, libraries, art and design rooms and dance and music studios. There will also be a theatre with 170 seats, sports spaces and a gym, a cafeteria, leisure areas and collaborative classrooms.
The promoters' objective is to meet the demands of 21st-century education. “Lisbon is committed to an educational approach focused on academic rigor, sustainability and global citizenship, combining the British international curriculum in the early years with the progressive implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB), up to the full Diploma Programme in 2027”, states Artemis Education.
