The accolade reflects the exceptional quality of cuisine created by chef Louis Anjos, and the uniqueness of the setting in which the newest restaurant of the resort’s Clubhouse finds itself – traits that provide a memorable experience like no other for guests.
The menu features a tasting menu made up of eight, ten or twelve moments, with dishes made with the very finest produce from the region, from shellfish and fish, to meat, fruit and vegetables. Standout ingredients include Bluefin Tuna accompanied by Ria de Alvor Oysters, Oscetra Caviar and Granny Smith Apple, Algarve Scarlet Shrimp with Rendered Pork Belly and Codium, the Iberian Pork Noodles with Stew Broth, Monchique Corn and Fine Herbes, or the Algarve Raspberries, Basil and Yoghurt.
“We are so proud to receive this distinction, just six months after the restaurant opened. Our team believed from the very outset that we would be able to stand out, working tenaciously with a sense of responsibility to ensure a memorable gastronomic experience for our guests. This accolade is a reward for the entire team, from the kitchen or pastry section, to front-of-house and the bar. We shall strive to ensure that AL SUD continues to provide unforgettable moments,” says chef Louis Anjos.
The fine dining eatery AL SUD Palmares, which showcases a menu that is creative, eclectic and of superior quality, results from Kronos Homes’ ongoing investment in Portugal, and more precisely in the region of the Algarve. It is the second restaurant in the resort’s Clubhouse, designed by Pritzker Prize winning studio RCR Arquitectes
AL SUD Palmares
“AL SUD Palmares enriches the experience of property owners in the resort and of anyone visiting the Algarve and the city of Lagos, meeting our ongoing remit to be recognised for the quality of our projects and to be an important asset in the residential tourism sector in Portugal. Not even the unusual time as the one we are currently experiencing has limited us in pursuing the vision we have for Palmares. Joining all the real estate development, the construction of a new Clubhouse, and a host of other investments in the resort, achieving this Michelin star is an accomplishment we couldn’t be prouder of. Knowing that we are the right track challenges us each day to continue being unique and better at what we do,” explains Alda Filipe, Commercial and Marketing Director of Kronos Homes in Portugal.
Located in the resort’s Clubhouse, enjoying a breath-taking setting framed on the one side by lush fairways and on the other by views of the Bay of Lagos and Alvor Estuary, AL SUD Palmares has room for 24 guests, and will open again in February. As an exception, the restaurant’s doors will open on the final evening of 2021, with the promise of providing the very finest New Year’s Eve experience.
With room for 70 guests, the resort’s first restaurant, also located in the Clubhouse, enjoys equally stunning sea views, while offering Mediterranean-style food, with strong local influences and some international touches. Opened every day, serving breakfast, lunch and lighter dinners, this is a meeting place not only for golfers, but for anyone looking to enjoy the unique lifestyle of this exceptional beachfront resort.
