Shops across Spain have
applied VAT reductions on all essential food taking the tax rate from 4 percent
to zero on a number of products.

The new measure will be in
place until 30 June or until inflation drops below 5.5 percent. Foods with zero
VAT include bread, cereals, cheese, eggs, flour, fruit, legumes, milk, and
vegetable.
