An earthquake measuring 4.7 (Richter), with an epicentre was located approximately 14 kilometres west-southwest of Seixal, is being reported on the website of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The earthquake occurred today, February 17, 2025, at 1:24 pm and was recorded at the stations of the Continent Seismic Network.
According to available information, this earthquake was felt by people in the capital, and a new statement with updated instrumental and macroseismic information should be issued soon.
If the situation warrants, new statements will be issued, states the IPMA.
