According to CIVISA, the earthquake was recorded at 9:51 am local time (10:51 am in Lisbon) and had its epicenter approximately six kilometers north-northeast (NNE) of S. Bartolomeu, on Terceira Island.

"According to the information available to date, the earthquake was felt with maximum intensity IV (Modified Mercalli scale) in S. Bartolomeu, Cinco Ribeiras, Santa Bárbara, Serreta, Raminho, Altares, S. Mateus, Terra Chã (municipality of Angra do Heroísmo) and in Biscoitos (municipality of Praia da Vitória)", adds CIVISA.

The event, according to CIVISA, is part of "the ongoing seismic-volcanic crisis on Terceira Island since June 2022".
