The announcement was made by Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), which explains that this intervention “comes within the scope of the implementation of measures to calm speeds” on the Marginal (National Road 6 - EN6) “with the aim of increasing the safety of all users”.
To implement the maximum limits of 50 kilometres along the entire length of the EN6, work will begin today to install or replace the existing vertical signage.
These works, which should be completed on April 18, will take place between 8am and 6pm and include the “phased removal of the shoulder or road”, a situation that will cause traffic constraints.
“We ask for your understanding regarding the inconvenience and disruption that this situation causes, in the certainty that we are contributing to improving the safety conditions of the infrastructure and, fundamentally, of its users,” the note concludes.
The announcement of this measure by IP comes almost a week after three cyclists were run over on Avenida Marginal by a driver. Two of the victims were seriously injured.
