With the aim of identifying new cases of high blood pressure and raising awareness about prevention, the Portuguese Society of Hypertension (SPH) campaign takes place on World Hypertension Day, between 10am and 5pm, in Jardim Vasco da Gama.

There will also be exams at Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, in Loures, next Thursday.

According to the SPH, the absence of symptoms “leads many to underestimate the severity of their condition and the importance of treatment.”

“The issue of hypertension is far from being resolved. We have prevention problems, diagnostic problems and we have problems with adherence to therapy, as well as difficulties in patients accessing doctors,” says the president of SPH, Fernando Gonçalves, in a statement.
