This year, under the motto “Diverse Archipelago”, the festival covers the islands of São Miguel (16 and 17 May, 26 to 28 June), Pico (23 and 24 May), Santa Maria (29 and 30 May), Faial (6 and 7 June), and Terceira (13, 14 and 15 June).

The initiative is promoted by a platform of associations, institutions, and collectives based in the region and aims to promote “dialogue and visibility of LGBTQIA+ issues in Azores, unite the Azorean LGBTQIA+ community and enable a positive, intergenerational and intersectional encounter”.

Azores Pride “is a civic movement and activist festival that celebrates LGBTQIA+ pride, equity, diversity and democratic principles in the Azores region. Unifying and inclusive, with free participation for all people”, adds the organisation.

The committee said that this year, the festival “expands its action in time, but also in territory”, passing through five islands of the Azorean archipelago. The festival will include lecture-performance “Transfeminist Art and Literacy” by artist, researcher, writer and independent curator Hilda de Paulo, a short film titled “UFOs, Monsters and Utopia”, by directors André Godinho and Ricardo Joaquim Branco, along with picnics, film screenings and gatherings, debates, among other activities.

The LGBTQIA+ Pride March takes place on 28 June, walking through the streets of the historic centre of Ponte Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and fight for an end to discrimination and hate crimes and intolerance committed in Azores”, says the organisation.

Azores Pride 2025 is financed by the Regional Government of the Azores, the municipal councils of Ponta Delgada, Horta and Vila do Porto and has the partnership of several spaces and entities from the different islands.

All Azores Pride activities are free.
