The train was retained at the station between 9pm and 9.55pm while authorities removed the animals. The accident also caused delays to the high-speed Alfapendular train which was travelling behind the Intercities.
Intercities train stuck at Boliqueime after accident with horses
An Intercities train travelling between Lisbon and Faro was stuck at Boliqueime station in the Algarve for 55 minutes on Monday night after two horses were hit on the track.
