DGS data is released weekly and updated until the previous
Wednesday. The first five cases were confirmed in Portugal on May 3.
According to information released by the DGS, of the 749
cases, most (337) are people between 30 and 39 years old and men (742).
The DGS states that eligible contacts in the different
regions continue to be identified and oriented towards vaccination, noting
that, in conjunction with the national medicine regulator and the vaccination
technical commission, "it is analysing and evaluating the conditions of
operation/availability and equity in the management of the limited vaccine
stock for the preventive vaccination approach".
According to the Directorate-General for Health, the most
common symptoms of Monkeypox infection are fever, intense headache, muscle
pain, back pain, tiredness, enlarged lymph nodes with the progressive
appearance of rashes that reach the skin and the mucous membranes.
