The plant, which has been in the experimental phase, is the first of the highest power solar plants to come into operation among those awarded in the 2019 public auction and is expected to have an estimated annual production of 330 gigawatt-hours (GWh).
“With an estimated annual production of 330 GWh, this plant will produce renewable electricity that would be sufficient to directly supply around 100,000 families or around 1% of the national population”, estimates EDP, which adds that the production of this electricity should avoid annual emission of 170 tons of carbon dioxide.
In the document, the energy company emphasizes that solar production is “fundamental to the country’s energy transition”.
