Nuno Cabrita Alves, president of the Algarve Food Bank, said that “this campaign is essential to support thousands of families”, adding that “everyone’s help in this cause is important”.

Volunteers are essential to guarantee collections in the 140 stores, spread across all municipalities in the region, that join the campaign, as “it is necessary to distribute bags and receive the food with the donations”.

Also in the Faro and Portimão warehouses “help is important to unload food and separate it, fold bags, among other tasks”.

Those who, on the other hand, want to make their contribution with donations, can do so in stores, next weekend, with food or vouchers.

In May 2024, in the last solidarity campaign by Banco Alimentar do Algarve, around 113 tons of food were collected, which reached, through institutions, 19,751 people in need in the region.
