The Ministry of Finance highlighted that, with this new agreement, the Government has increased to 49 the number of properties transferred to local authorities since October 2024. “This Executive has already signed 33 agreements with 29 municipalities. During this period, 49 properties were transferred for rehabilitation, with the total investment value being around 50 million euros”, he highlights.
The agreement, signed in Coimbra, in the Intermunicipal Community of the Coimbra Region, involves the municipalities of Albufeira, Alfândega da Fé, Alvaiázere, Arcos de Valdevez, Coimbra, Coruche, Guarda, Manteigas, Montalegre, Penedono, Portimão and Tomar.
“Through the implementation of these agreements it will be possible to ensure the transfer of 22 more state properties, which are unused or unoccupied, to the management of city halls, for a total value of €40 million,” said the Ministry of Finance.
How wonderful that the government is getting more vacant buildings to expand into. Now allow all the resistance properties being held by governments or citizens to enter into the housing market. Holding on to these properties creates an artificial inflation of housing prices.

There are so many buildings falling down in many of the places I visit. High time these buildings were bought back to life instead of building more & more boxes of cement/glass/flat roof characterless structures.
