The price of a basket of essential products fell by 1.22
euros, which represents a drop of 0.6% compared to the previous week, reaching
201.98 euros, according to accounts made by the Portuguese Association for
Consumer Protection (DECO).
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the price of a basket
of essential goods has increased by 18.35 euros, which represents an increase
of around 10% compared to the value recorded on 23 February, totalling 201.98
euros, according to the basket monitored by Deco, based on 63 essential food
products, which include turkey, chicken, hake, horse mackerel, onion, potato,
carrot, banana, apple, orange, rice, spaghetti, sugar, ham, milk, cheese and
butter.
After having registered an increase in the week of June 8th
to 15th, the cost of the basket monitored by Deco registered a slight decrease
during the last week, having fallen by 1.22 euros (0.60%) to cost 201.98 euros
compared to at 203.20 euros estimated on 15 June.
In the last week, that is, between June 15 and 22, the 10
products that registered the biggest price increases “were ground roasted
coffee (16% more), ham (9% more), salmon (plus 7%), onion (plus 5%), loaf of
bread without crust (plus 5%), kale (plus 5%), spiral pasta (plus 4%), hake
medallions (plus 4%), salted butter (plus 3%) and sliced turkey breast (plus
3%)”.
